The biggest fashion fiesta of the season WIFW Autumn-Winter 2014 is ready to roll out the red carpet for style connoisseurs at Pragati Maidan
As the biggest fashion event WIFW Autumn-winter 2014 gets set for showtime, the Pragati Maidan venue has been transformed into a beauty by a talented team, which has worked tirelessly for five days to get the show on the road.
Forty eight models (divided into three pools), 31 shows, 162 stalls (more spacious this time), a 72 feet by eight feet ramp, 48 helpers, 15 ironing men, two tailors are ready to take on the five-day challenge.
The three make-up teams Rod Anker, Ambika Pillai and MAC have 80 backstage people to assist them during shows.
To ensure safety of the celebrities coming to watch the shows 136 security personnel (including traffic marshals) have been stationed on day and night duty. 116 house keeping with 3 supervisors (one head) along with a 48 member event production guys and 680 people, plus, 200 from sponsor and vendors have helped to construct the magnificent venue.
Interestingly, the venue is sparkling with a little help from Himanshu Dogra of Play Clan’s ingenious ideas. “We have played on the word ‘India’, so archival images from FDCI’s impressive bank have been incorporated in the décor. Motifs have been created with an amalgamation of English and the Devanagari script, with pipe structures and installations (almost 12 feet tall),” he says.
The most interesting part is the TV tower (16 feet tall), which will show the evolution of fashion with archival shows being played from the past. In this earnest effort David Abraham and Gaurav Gupta gave their innovative inputs which resulted in spectacular graphics. “Icons representing fashion (shoes, bags and bow ties) using three hues—red, blue and yellow give a digital feel. The idea was to use a language of graphics to communicate the message that it is a beautiful showcase of the best of India at this extravaganza, paying a tribute to the craftsmanship of this country,” he adds.
