With an ex-navyman for a father who travelled all over the globe (Germany, Kuwait to Dubai) as a marine engineer after he retired from the forces, Rajshree was raised by her mother. Being the only child, her parents have been extremely supportive, so when modelling became a career choice, her dad was a bit worried, but soon reconciled as it made his daughter happy.

Standing tall at five feet nine inches Rajshree, 22, always knew that courting the camera was her destiny. Manipuri by birth, she was born in Guwahati and raised in Mumbai, where after studying sociology in Mithibai College, she did a course in make up before plunging wholeheartedly in the spotlight. “The biggest challenge in modelling is to be able to stay relevant as new faces are launched every year. Besides looking your best, you must keep yourself updated with the latest happenings in the design world and also understand the aesthetics of the style guru you walk for,” she adds.

Participating in the TV show India’s Next Top Model (Season 2), Rajshree who finished in the top 6 wasn’t disillusioned after she lost. She counts being on the reality show as one of the most interesting month in her life where she learnt to share the same room with a fellow contestant and not end up fighting. “I’ve been an admirer Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Tyra Banks, who have carved a niche for themselves. And now supermodel Kate Moss has launched her own modelling agency, which she admits is not just for pretty people. So everything even in this shining world is changing and that’s what makes it an interesting time to be a model,” she smiles.
