Blue is the warmest colour

Reynu Tandon kept it rather traditional and stuck to cholis and pearl chokers as gotta-patti peacocks indulged a rain dance on Chanderi lehengas

It was an ode to Rajasthan with a gotta patti rendition on blue, or as Reynu explains cyan, also the hue of the multitude of houses in Jodhpur, the city of royals, which has refreshingly replaced traditional reds in a bride’s glittering wardrobe. The camels, peacocks and swans pirouetted on lehengas, which she had crafted out of luscious chanderi, but Reynu kept it rooted in heritage rather than attempting to do the tightrope walk between modernity and culture.

The sexy tie back cholis made a swift entry and so did the shararas with broader hems worn with interesting pearl chokers from Roopchand Jewellers. The motifs were borrowed from the luxurious past, with magnificent Art Deco havelis and mirrored palaces boasting of Mughal architecture found a way in a gold avatar on palazzos as messy buns, exaggerated eyes and nude mouths created quiet splendour.

With a film stated for release, Toilet Ek Prem Katha star Bhoomi Pednekar, the pocket size Venus, sizzled in an ink blue lehenga with an embroidered tunic.
