The Pianist

Madhulika Sharma, 19, from Guwahati besides being a classical pianist is also a yoga enthusiast, who has dreams to maybe be a lawyer someday.

She follows the words of her idol and supermodel Gigi Hadid, who says, “Always make a friend on set.” So, the beauty from Assam (Guwahati), Madhulika Sharma tries to keep a positive vibe, while working on shoots, never throws a tantrum and always finds ways to improve herself.

The 19-year-old moved to Delhi seven months ago, to study economics and political science from Miranda House and was spotted by a talent management agency on Instagram. “I thought why not give it a try and I flew to Mumbai to ink the deal. And even bagged my first big campaign, a shoot for Anju Modi’s Bajirao Mastani line, and made to a leading fashion magazine’s cover,” she admits.

What modelling also did was got her out of her comfort zone, leave home, take on a challenge and succeed in it. “I come from an academic family and my older sister is studying at the Delhi School of Economics, so academics is really important for overall development. But If I wasn’t a model I would certainly be a musician,” she confesses.

Madhulika from the age of six has been learning classical piano and is actually a certified musician from The Trinity College, London, because her school was affiliated to it. “I have studied it till the highest grade, which is grade eight, and in the future I do want to take it to a higher level and maybe get a degree. Even when I go out whatever may be playing in the background, in my head Beethoven and Mozart are on! I am also interested in law, as politics was my calling since school,” she says.

Not a believer in gymming, Madhulika likes to run and when she can’t do that she walks and her target is to be able to complete five km every day. “Brisk walk can do wonders, and I try and walk to most of my destinations, especially in college or when I am on location shoots. I am passionate about yoga too, something my mom has instilled in me. Plus, I also eat well, which solves half of your weight gain problems,” she concludes.
