White metal to shine at WIFW SS 14 décor

In keeping with the international theme of white and metal, Vikram Sharma, interior designer of the venue has ingeniously moulded 500 kg of pure metal into facades, backdrops, arches and furniture at the Pragati Maidan venue of WIFW SS 14. “I think, the most challenging part was the scale with which we were dealing, it took us a week of work, non-stop to get it rolling,” says Vikram Sharma.

Though it took months of deliberations from the idea stage to the final execution.

With interesting geometric shapes crafted out of metal, white was the overpowering theme. “It was a deliberate effort to make it unique and move away from fabric which we had done last time. Plus, white is light and always easy for summer,” says Vikram.

This year there are many exciting features to look out for at WIFW, the tie-up with Google Plus will ensure live streaming of shows which will open up this fashion fiesta to a newer and global audience. 48 models will be taking the catwalk by storm, while three choreographers will direct shows, along with almost 80 professional staff to look after the make-up and hair (three experts are on board Ambika Pillai, MAC and Jojo and Yatin). 20 people will handle events, while 52 bouncers will make sure things take off smoothly. Almost 700 people are working tirelessly for a week to get the sets and venue crackling this season. So, get set for a joy ride!
